1. Mealie meal cookies
Try the less traditional route and create savoury cakes to be enjoyed with a stew or as a side dish at your next braai. Simply cook the pap to a stiff consistency, form into little cookies and fry in oil until crisp and golden. Amp up the flavour with your favourite herbs and spices such as mixed herbs, paprika or cinnamon.
2. Creamy cheese and sweetcorn pap

Form little balls with the pap, flatten them and place a cube of cheese in the centre. Reshape the balls and fry. Pair them with Chakalaka or a dip of your choice.
4. Mealie meal pizza
When you’re in the mood for this Italian favourite, try creating a simple and effortless crust with pap. Simply add a handful of Parmesan cheese to your pap mixture and form into a base 2-3 cm thick. No need to pre-cook. Add your favourite toppings and bake as desired. Serve warm.
