Getting The Balance Right
The secret to a good curry is striking the right balance between heat, flavour and texture, as well as a generous amount of spice, onion, ginger and garlic. Rajah’s mild curry powder combines the freshest ingredients sourced from the best suppliers. Turmeric, coriander, cumin, cassia and garlic come together to create a taste sensation.
How To Use Rajah Mild & Spicy Curry Powder
There are as many ways to cook a delicious curry as there are recipes, and there’s no shortage of inspiration out there, whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned chef. But there’re some things we’ve found work best when using our curry powder: adding it to a little liquid (water, stock, yoghurt, coconut milk) to make a paste, before frying in a little oil, butter or ghee alongside onions and garlic to form a perfect curry base. As with all good things, a delicious curry is best cooked slowly, allowing the flavours to infuse.
But just because it is called curry powder does not mean you cannot use it in other dishes, like the South African classic, Bobotie. A teaspoon or two of Rajah Mild & Spicy curry powder can be used to flavour soups, stir-fry, stews, meat, vegetables, marinades and sauces. It can even be added to potato salads or used as a table seasoning instead of salt.
