Experience a fusion of flavours with our Boerewors Bolognaise – a South African twist on a classic Italian favourite. This dish combines the richness of boerewors sausage meat with the savoury appeal of a tomato-based sauce, all enhanced by aromatic herbs and spices. It's a hearty and satisfying meal that's sure to become a family favourite. 
Ingredients
  • 10 ml (2 tbsp) olive oil
  • 500 g Boerewors, meat removed from skin
  • 1 red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 red pepper, chopped
  • 2 carrots, grated
  • 125 ml (½ cup) basil leaves, roughly chopped
  • 5 ml (1 tbsp) Robertsons oregano
  • 5 ml (1 tbsp) Robertsons chilli flakes
  • 250 ml water
  • 48 g (1 packet) Knorr Tomato Base Dry Cook-In-Sauce
Cooking Method
  1. Cook pasta following on pack instructions.

  2. Heat oil over medium to high heat. Break the sausage meat into pieces before adding to the oil and browning. Add the onion to the pan and allow it to cook until softened and slightly browned.

  3. Add the garlic, peppers, carrots, basil leaves and cook until softened and fragrant.

  4. Add the oregano, chili flakes, water and stir in the Knorr Tomato Base Dry Cook In Sauce and bring to the boil while stirring. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper and allow to reduce slightly.
